Mafia: The Old Country — Chapter 4 Collectibles Guide

TL;DR

  • Chapter 4 has 13 collectibles: Saint's Card, Photograph, 3 Trinacrias, 2 Charms, 4 Notes, Newspaper, Mystery Fox.
  • Saint's Card and the Photograph are single-opportunity pickups; miss them and you'll have to replay Chapter 4.
  • Trinacrias sit in the temple and over the exit arch; Charms and Notes hide around the bandit camp and tents.
  • Move slowly at the boulder and observation points — Mystery Fox needs a right-then-left route; check crates and railings.

What You Need to Know First

Requirements and quick checklist before you start Chapter 4.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be on Chapter 4 (the section where you ride with Isabella toward the ancient ruins).
  • No special level or items required — just careful exploration.
  • Missing a single collectible forces chapter replay/backtracking.

Quick tip: Photograph is automatic. Saint's Card is a one-time pickup before the story moves you away.

Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps in order to nab every collectible in one clean run.

  1. Dismount point — Saint's Card (single chance)

    • After you and Isabella ride up and stop to check on Gennaro and Ceaser, head southeast from your horse.
    • You'll see a stone altar across the main road. Saint's Card is sitting on it. This is your only chance in the chapter.
  2. Proceed into the ruins — Photograph (auto)

    • The Photograph is added automatically during the story. Don't worry about this one.
  3. Temple interior — Trinacria 1/3

    • After the temple gunfight, enter the interior and look immediately left. Trinacria 1 is on a wooden table.
  4. Observation point — Charm 1/2 (Fantasma)

    • From the vantage point overlooking Messina's stronghold, scan the wooden railings on your right. The Fantasma charm is sitting on the rail.
  5. Exit cave into camp — Note 1/4

    • Head right after Charm, enter the cave and drop down to the bandit camp. A note rests on a crate as you exit — grab it.
  6. Clear the large chamber — Note 2/4 and Newspaper

    • Take out the bandits in the big chamber. Climb to the upper level and find Note 2 ("The Hunt for Messina").
    • The Newspaper is folded on a crate in the center of this room.
  7. Bandit tents — Trinacria 2/3

    • Exit the chamber to the open tent area. Explore the right side of the camp: the second Trinacria is carved into the mountain wall.
  8. Winding ascent — Note 3/4 (Gennaro's Acquisition) and Mystery Fox approach

    • As you go up the winding path toward "Find Gennaro," look for the massive boulder on the right. The note sits near it.
    • Important navigation: from the boulder, move right first, then curve left to get behind it. That hidden path ends at wooden rails where the Mystery Fox sits.
  9. Gennaro area — Charm 2/2 (San Giuda) and Note 4/4

    • Your story objective brings you to Gennaro. The second charm (San Giuda) sits on a wooden box in front of him.
    • Search the wooden crates behind Gennaro to collect the final note, "Ransom Note - Gennaro."
  10. Exit archway — Trinacria 3/3

  • Before leaving the bandit camp, look up at the stone arch marking the exit. The third Trinacria sits atop that arch.
  1. Final inventory check
  • Pause before proceeding to the next chapter and verify you have all 13 collectibles. If anything is missing, backtrack immediately; some pickups disappear with story progression.

Collectible checklist table (use this to tick items off during the run):

ItemEffectWhere to Get
Saint's CardSingle-chance collectibleStone altar southeast of dismount point
PhotographAuto collectibleMain story beat in the ruins
Trinacria 1/3CollectibleWooden table inside temple
Trinacria 2/3CollectibleCarved into mountain wall (bandit tents)
Trinacria 3/3CollectibleAtop stone archway over exit
Charm (Fantasma)CollectibleObservation railings overlooking stronghold
Charm (San Giuda)CollectibleWooden box in front of Gennaro
Notes 1-4CollectiblesCrate outside cave; upper chamber; by boulder; behind Gennaro
NewspaperCollectibleCrate in large chamber
Mystery FoxCollectibleBehind massive boulder (right then left)

Short navigation note: move carefully around the boulder and the observation point. Fast-forwarding the story or sprinting through areas is how players miss one and curse themselves later.

Pro Tips

  • Before you clear the large chamber, stand on the upper level and scan the center crates — the Newspaper and Note 2 are easy to miss while sweeping for enemies.
  • When you reach the observation point, circle the railings slowly with the camera — Fantasma sits on the right-hand railing and won't show up on the minimap.
  • For the Mystery Fox, treat the boulder like a small puzzle: go right of it first, then loop left behind it. If you go straight ahead you’ll bypass the hidden path.
  • If you're sneaking, use cover while checking crates; some notes are placed near choke points where bandits spawn during scripted fights.
  • Quick save (or the in-game checkpoint) after grabbing Saint's Card and Trinacria 1. If anything unpredictable happens later, you won't waste the whole chapter replaying.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Rushing past the stone altar after dismounting — Saint's Card is a one-time pickup and the story moves you away from that area.
  • Assuming all Trinacrias are ground-level; Trinacria 3/3 is overhead on the archway and can be missed if you don't look up.
  • Ignoring the right-hand side of the bandit camp — Trinacria 2/3 is carved into the mountain wall and blends into the rocks.
  • Going straight past the boulder toward the objective — the Mystery Fox sits behind the boulder and requires a right-then-left path to reach.
