The Bornless Guide — Orobas, Incense & Winning Duos

TL;DR

  • Duos fight 6-round PvPvE matches: pre-round, four main rounds, and a final catacombs round where Orobas roams freely.
  • Incense is the economy: spend 25 incense at a Shrine to summon Orobas; collect from chests and kills.
  • Pick one Black Magick (press Q to use); match your pick to playstyle — Dae Shield for defense, Gehenna for area denial.
  • Use Shrines and Control Zones smartly, prioritize beacons with weapon shops, and don’t throw away revives on unwinnable fights.

What You Need to Know First

Quick requirements and what matters before you drop in.

ItemEffectWhere to Get
ModeDuos PvPvE, 8 players split into four teams of twoMatch select - Orobas Gamemode
Shrines (x5)Summon Orobas for 25 incense; creates a Control Zone after useMap landmarks (red beacons)

Recommended baseline: play with a mic, know basic shooting and positioning. The game punishes solo greed; duos that split too early get hunted down. No account levels are required to join matches, but map knowledge and beacon timing are what separate the useful teams from the ones feeding Orobas.

Step-by-Step Guide

Follow this progression every match. Think methodical, not flashy.

  1. Pre-round: Free roam and loot.

    • All beacons active. Open temporary and permanent chests. Test weapons at the Shooting Range if you need warm-up.
    • Prioritize finding Incense containers early — the team with economy usually controls Shrines later.
  2. Lock down a beacon as the pre-round ends.

    • When only one beacon remains active, shops and outside chests lock. Be at the active beacon with your partner to contest shops and Shrine access.
  3. Use Shrines strategically (25 incense to summon Orobas).

    • First team to a Shrine can buy Orobas for 25 incense to pressure another team.
    • After summoning, a Control Zone spawns. Hold it uncontested to retain Orobas; leave it open and another team will take him.
  4. Manage Incense economy.

    • Spend incense on ammo or stronger weapons at the beacon weapon shop when safe.
    • If you’re short, avoid fights and farm temporary chests near rotating beacons.
  5. Black Magicks: pick one at match start; use with intent (press Q).

Black MagickEffectNotes
Dae ShieldProtective orb that blocks incoming/outgoing damage; OROABAS cannot enter1 charge; cooldown recharge
GehennaThrows flaming molotov causing a firestorm on impact2 charges; independent recharge
Corvus EyeEmits a wave that outlines enemies (red) and friends (white)Use per charge; 50s cooldown
Aecus FlareBlinding flare creating a spherical vision-disableUse per charge; recharges over time
  1. Weapon priorities and purchase timing.
WeaponEffectWhere to Get
KnifeMelee; basic attack and heavy lungeStarting weapon / melee pickups
1911Semi-auto pistol for finishers and headshotsStarting weapon / shops
Double Barrel ShotgunHigh close-range damage; fast follow-upWeapon shops
KAR98Bolt-action; single-shot high damage & headshot potentialWeapon shops
Tommy GunFull-auto, large mag; versatile but priceyWeapon shops
  1. Rounds 1–4: Cauldron control and contest.

    • Rotate with the beacons. If you summon Orobas, use him to force enemy repositioning; don’t expect him to clear camps alone.
  2. Final round (catacombs): Orobas spawns freely.

    • The final Shrine can be used repeatedly if you have incense to buy favor. Spend to gain Orobas as an ally, but be ready to defend the Control Zone.
  3. Downs, revives, and Souls.

    • When downed, you control your Soul to scout and call positions — but Souls are visible. Revive by holding 'E' at a teammate's body; revives are audible and limited per match.
  4. Endgame: focus position and timing.

  • Don’t chase every kill. Control Zone timing, shrine fights, and baiting Orobas can swing a round. Play for value — your combined incense and revives matter more than ego.

Pro Tips

  • Treat Incense like ammo — a single 25 incense Shrine purchase can cost your late-game loadout. If you don’t have enough, coordinate to steal enemy incense after fights.
  • Dae Shield blocks OROBAS and bullets. Use it to bunker while a teammate flanks. Remember it only has one charge, so pick the moment.
  • If you summon Orobas, force teams into chokepoints — Orobas is excellent at disrupting revives and pushing players out of cover.
  • Corvus Eye is undervalued for info denial. Use it to check a contested Control Zone before committing; 50s cooldown means timing is everything.
  • Tommy Gun is the most flexible buy for holding beacons; KAR98 is for players who can hit headshots—don’t buy it if you can’t land them.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Wasting Shrine incense early to flex — Orobas buys should solve a problem, not feed one.
  • Splitting from your duo to loot every chest; Souls and OROBAS will punish solo picks.
  • Ignoring Control Zones after summoning Orobas — hold it or expect to lose him quickly.
  • Using Black Magicks without communicating cooldowns; your partner needs to know when a shield or flare is available.
